Israel Launches Heavy Strikes on Gaza City Amid Ceasefire Talks and Displacement Warnings

Israeli Forces Bombard Gaza City After Issuing Evacuation Threats Israel launched a wave of at least 50 airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, with a major concentration of attacks targeting the eastern neighborhoods of Gaza City. The military offensive followed fresh evacuation orders, raising fears of an imminent and wider assault on the area. According to Al Jazeera’s latest report, at least 68 Palestinians were killed in 24 hours — 47 of them in Gaza City and the northern region. This escalation comes as Egypt’s foreign minister confirmed his country is working on a new 60-day ceasefire proposal, conditioned on the release of Israeli hostages. Gaza Ceasefire Talks Face Roadblocks Despite renewed diplomatic efforts, negotiations between Israel and Hamas remain stalled. Hamas has offered to release 50 hostages if Israel agrees to a complete troop withdrawal and a permanent end to the war. But Israel continues to demand Hamas’s surrender, disarmament, and exile, terms the group has rejected. Gaza Ceasefire Talks Face Roadblocks

Despite renewed diplomatic efforts, negotiations between Israel and Hamas remain stalled. Hamas has offered to release 50 hostages if Israel agrees to a complete troop withdrawal and a permanent end to the war. But Israel continues to demand Hamas’s surrender, disarmament, and exile, terms the group has rejected.

Former President Donald Trump noted in a recent interview that Netanyahu is “in the process of negotiating a deal with Hamas,” highlighting growing international attention on a possible resolution.

“Victory over Iran has created many opportunities, including freeing our people held in Gaza,” Netanyahu said, referencing Israel’s recent 12-day conflict with Iran.

Rising Death Toll in Gaza

The humanitarian toll continues to rise at an alarming rate. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the total number of Palestinians killed in Israel’s military campaign now exceeds 56,500, with over 133,000 injured. These figures reflect both direct casualties and those impacted by collapsing medical infrastructure and aid blockades.

In comparison, 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7 Hamas-led attacks, and over 200 hostages were taken into Gaza at the time.
